Technician
Main Responsibilities:
- Proactive maintenance of forward and return path of HFC network to maintain the quality of Digital TV service and Docsis based service.
- Installs and repairs all wiring/cabling and hardware required to support Docsis based service.
- Installs and maintains coaxal cables and lines entering the customer premises from the HFC plant
- Operates and maintains tools and test equipment.
- Responsible for following, supporting and enforcing all internal control processes and procedures.
- Designing fiber optic and HFC networks.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certificate or Diploma in Electronics Engineering or related field.
- Must have knowledge of HFC networks and CMTS equipment, and have the ability to install, service and validate installations for proper configuration and performance.
- Knowledge of Broadband / Docsis forward and return path frequencies.
- Knowledge of Docsis and have the ability to perform Docsis testing on completed installations to insure quality service.
- Minimum three years of working experience in a field installation or repair technician.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and all Microsoft products, including outlook, word and excel.
- Able to handle any and all physical requirements related to the role including ability to climb and work from a 5 foot ladder.
- Two years of basic CATV installation and repairs. Preferred experience with digital CATV systems,
- Docsis cable modem installation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of redesign and measuring signal levels fibre optic splicing skills, and spectrum analyzer.
- Basic knowledge of operation spectrum analyzer.
- Knowledge of fibre optic splicing, transport technologies CWDM, DWDM.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Applicant may be required to work both inside and outside of the facility
- On-call and flexible work hours are required.
- Employee must be able to work in the preventive/corrective maintenance window hours on a regular basis.
