Islanders Education (IE) is the largest private education provider in the Maldives. In 2008, IE opened Billabong High International School and Kangaroo Kids Preschool, becoming the first to open a private International School in the capital city, Malé. In 2012, IE was awarded the largest education development project in the capital city - The Ameer Ahmed Education Project, that includes the development of community school, private international preschool and primary school as well as a teacher training institute. Islanders has completed 2 phases of the 4 phase development project (ahead of its intended schedule) and today operates Kangaroo Kids International Preschool (Dream Campus) and Ameer Ahmed Community School (a Corporate Social Responsibility project) on the Ameer Ahmed Education compound.
Today, IE has 3 International schools with over 3,000 students. IE's student enrolment represents approximately 11% of the total student population in the capital city and 3% of the total student population in the country.
IE offers International educational programs from K-12. It is the master franchise of Kangaroo Kids Education Limited (KKEL) in the Maldives and offers the KKEL curriculum from Primary to Secondary. IE schools offer Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) for secondary.
In addition to mainstream education, IE also own and operate Baby Genius - an international program for infant and toddlers, Islanders Institute of Special Education - education for children with special needs and learning disabilities, Twinkle Star and Academy of Arts, Music and Theatre - enrichment education for gifted children, Sports Star Academy and Tiny Olympics - Sports training for K-12 students and Islanders Institute of Higher Education - higher education courses for teachers and trainers
